WINCHESTER, Va. — After a multi-day survey and weeks of deliberation, NW Works has been accredited for an additional three years by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is an independent, non-profit organization focused on advancing the quality of services of health and human service providers. Globally recognized, CARF is the main accrediting body for the human services industry and having this accreditation ensures that the organization utilizes best practices with a strong commitment to quality.
The accreditation recognizes NW Works as an organization that provides quality services meeting CARF’s standards of continually improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community. The three-year accreditation is the highest level granted by the agency.
“There’s well over 1,000 items that they check for,” said Valerie Carney, NW Works’ compliance officer. “There’s always work to do to move forward but [the 3-year accreditation] is certainly evidence of the hard work of everybody.”
Director of mission services Melody Crossway, herself a CARF surveyor, says the accreditation reflects the level of commitment staff have to support clients.
“The passion is what keeps people’s nose to the grindstone late at night to make sure the quality programs are provided and that continuous quantity and quality of care is offered to the individuals in the Shenandoah Valley,” Crossway said. “We are passionate about what we do and that we want to do it in the way that sets the bar for other programs across the nation.”
NW Works is proud to be CARF-certified for more than 20 years.
