A New York native, Kevin Lakin moved to Winchester from the Rochester area in 1997. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Lakin previously worked for FedEx before making the jump to into the investment world in 2003. He is currently a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor Truist Wealth and Truist Investment Services respectively, formerly known as BB&T. He aims to use his years of experience in the field to bolster both the Finance Committee and the Foundation Board.
For Lakin, his connection to NW Works is a personal one. His late brother, Randy, had down syndrome and Lakin says Randy was involved in a program similar to NW Works in western New York. After Randy’s passing in 2004, Lakin knew he wanted to get involved with a similar organization to honor his brother’s memory. When fellow board member Tom Tarrant introduced Lakin to NW Works, he knew he’d found his calling.
When he’s not advising his clients, Lakin enjoys traveling the country to visit his adult children, and with a daughter in Alaska, a son in Maine, and another daughter in Florida, he certainly stays busy doing so. In addition, he’s an avid outdoorsman and craftsman. He also serves as the Vice President of the board of the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick and Clarke Counties.
